turkey chili

Try this healthy, protein packed chili on a cold Sunday afternoon. This chili is so easy to make in a slow cooker and tastes incredible. Browning the meat and placing half in a food processor for a few seconds gives an amazing dual texture to this chili.

Ingredients:

- 3 tbsp vegetable oil

- 2 lbs ground turkey

- 2 medium garlic cloves

- 1 white onion

- 2 jalepenos

- 1 serrano pepper

- 1 green pepper

- 1 yellow pepper

- 1 red pepper

- 2 cups chicken broth

- 1 beer ( I prefer Guinness)

- 1/2 cup tomato sauce

- 1 can black beans

- 6 tbsp corn meal

- 5 tbsp chili powder

- 3 tsp sugar

- 3 tsp salt

- 3 tsp ground cumin

- 1 bay leaf

- Brown the turkey meat with a little salt and pepper and the vegetable oil in a pan until fully cooked.  Take half the meat out and let cool a bit.  Add all vegetables to other half of meat and cook for another 5-7 minutes.

- Chop/grind the other half of meat in a food processor very quickly ( Just a quick spin is all it needs).

- Put all the ingredients into a slow cooker and set on "low" for 5-6 hours stirring occasionally. 

- Serve with sharp cheddar cheese and sliced avocado.
